Roy Engineering College, Durgapur was affiliated to the University of Burdwan for the students admitted in 2000-01 session. But from 2001-2002 session onwards the college was affiliated to the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). The college is approved by both All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal. All the courses offered conform to the latest requirements and syllabus is structured by MAKAUT.
