Surendra Institute of Engineering and Management is run by Bidya Bharati Foundation. It is a charitable society dedicated to the cause of spreading quality education in North Bengal and owned by the “Agarwals” of Patna. Late Surendra Agarwal, a self made businessman and popularly known as the “Iron King of Patna”, was also a visionary who cherished the dream of bringing quality education to the city of Siliguri. SIEM is the second venture of this charitable society, the first being Delhi Public School, Siliguri that was started under the dynamic eadership and guidance of Late Surendra Agarwal six years ago in the year 2003. Within six years, this school has transformed into a full fledged educational institute of repute with a students’ strength of 3500. Following his footprints, members of his family who were committed to the task of fulfilling the noble mission already started, planned to make significant contribution in the field of technical education in North Bengal by establishing an engineering and management institute of its kind.
SIEM (Surendra Institute of Engineering & Management) is a world class Engineering Institution providing B.Tech Course in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Civil Engineering. It is situated in Siliguri, District Darjeeling, West Bengal.
The college is recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). Under the aegis of the charitable society, Bidya Bharti Foundation, SIEM started its journey in August 2009 and it is dedicated to provide quality education in the field of Engineering and Management in North Bengal.
SIEM is in its tenth year of operation and within these ten years it has become an organization with a strength of 1500 young and energetic students along with dynamic, competent and qualified teaching and non-teaching work force, working together towards a better future with higher academic and professional development of its students.

CIVIL ENGINEERING
The Civil Engineering Department of Surendra Institute of Engineering & Management has stepped in 2nd year with active teaching and setting up of modern Laboratories comprising of 42 students, two well qualified & experienced Faculties, one Assistant Engineer and one Technical Assistant. Our first batch of graduate engineers is expected to pass out by 2014. The department is now in the process of developing infrastructures like making Solid Mechanics, Surveying and other laboratories. We are now in the valid process of developing our students by the way of participating in different extra curricular activities in addition to following their academic schedule.
The youthful energy and enthusiasm of the students of this department are the most important resource and with good planning, co-ordination and involvement we can make our students not only the best engineers but also responsible citizens of our country who with their leadership can take our society ahead in coming years. Mechanical engineering department of SIEM has developed to a full-fledged &perfect shape over a record short period. At present we have six numbers of well qualified and experienced Asst. Professors, two Asst. Engineers and adequate number of Technical Assts. &other supporting staff for the workshop under a highly experienced & well qualified Senior Foreman. We have big engineering/drafting halls with all appliances &modern facilities like CAD/CAM/PRO-E etc to facilitate complex design/drawing work under the guidance of experienced faculties. Workshops and laboratories constitute the most essential elements of the Mechanical Engineering Department, and here at SIEM we have the following well equipped shops/labs to cater to the requirements:

Please follow the following procedure for Admission at SIEM:
1) 1) Get all your certificates like X, XII, Diploma Mark sheets, WBJEE/AIEEE/ JELET Rank certificate etc. and ensure that you have 50 % in XII taking Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics together or 50 % in Diploma for lateral entry.
2) Follow the Central Selection Committee announcement for filling up the form for central counseling and allotment of colleges. (Announcement is done on 16th June 2010). Details are available at www.csc-et.in .
3) If one does not want to go through the counselling then you can contact the institute directly with valid AIEEE/WBJEE rank under the management quota seats as per the Govt. rules.

The ECE department at Surendra Institute of Engineering & Management has been active in teaching and research since its inception in 2009. Currently, about 9 faculty members are engaged in Quality Teaching, research in the areas of Communication and Signal Processing, Computing, VLSI system design, and Electronic Systems.
