    The Tamil Development Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu has established a Tamil Chair in Utkal University of Culture since 2001 for Tamil language, teaching and research among non-Tamil speaking people. The University has introduced a Certificate Course in Tamil Language since 18.06.2011. In the first batch, 15 students have taken admission for which classes are going on. Students from different walks of life like Advocates, Engineers, Teachers and other professionals are taking keen interest in learning Tamil Language.
