About Department of Dermatology
Background, academic mission, and departmental profile
Besides routine ambulatory and inpatient dermatology services, the department runs a follow-up clinic for patients with vesiculobullous and pigmentary disorders, lichens planus, cutaneous tuberculosis, psoriasis and pediatric dermatologic disorders. Special clinics for leprosy and sexually transmitted diseases are also run daily. In addition a weekly dermantosurgery clinic is held for patients.
Areas of research are psoriasis, alopecia or areate leprosy, lichen planus, scleroderma, and clinical research involving drugs as approved by DCGI from time to time. In the pipeline are whole body ultraviolet therapy. Cutaneous lasers and radio-surgery equipments are available to enhance the range of therapeutic options to patients as well as for teaching.
