The department participated in "In-service Training in Medical Laboratory Technology" Programme. Besides routine biochemical investigations the department manages 24-hour emergency laboratory service. More than 5 lakhs biochemical investigation were performed in routine lab and 2.5 lakhs investigations in emergency lab last year.
The department has well established state of the art laboratories for clinical research, molecular biology, drug toxicology and plant research. Department plans to further develop advanced biochemical, immunotoxicological and molecular biological techniques such as PCR, RFLP and gel documentation for postgraduate students. Further research-work include: Extablishment of a cell-culture laboratory; role of medicinal plants in various diseases; therapeutic efficacy and toxicity testing of various drugs, chemicals, etc.
