Agricultural Statistics, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science
The department of Statistics was established in the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore on 4thJuly, 1966 as per the status and Act.No.23/1963. The Department is offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the students enrolled in this University in all the disciplines viz. Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing and cooperation, Agricultural Engineering, Sericulture and Forestry. The postgraduate programme in Agricultural Statistics leading to M.Sc (Agri) degree in Agricultural Statistics was started in the year 1978. In the beginning one undergraduate course for Agriculture, two courses for Veterinary were compulsory. So also, two basic courses were compulsory for all the PG students enrolled in the University. At present the department is offering three courses for undergraduate students and about 20 courses for postgraduate students of different disciplines catering to the needs of individual departments.
