Vivekananda College came into existence in June 1971 in response to this educational necessity and hope. This College was started in June 1971 by the above Tapovanam and affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University with a prophetic vision and a clear foresight in order to provide quality education to the talented youths of backward classes hailing from rural areas. It is intended for men only. It is located in ideal rural surroundings amidst bounteous natural scenery all round on the northern bank of the river Vaigai. The institution has a firm conviction in the concept of Swami Vivekananda that education is a man making endeavour. Hence, the spiritual aspect of education is given due weightage and value based education is made a reality in the campus. By shaping and moulding the Students on the right direction by a team of committed teachers, the college has carved a niche for itself in the realm of higher education in the southern part of Tamil Nadu. Life-training has been the part and parcel of our curriculum right from the inception of the institution and it got its official academic authenticity under autonomy in June 1987. Our curriculum contributes towards the country’s constructive development in countless ways. In tune with the proven principle that quality improvement in his leads to the economic development of a nation, our three faceted curriculum strengthens the realm of knowledge, skill imparting techniques and value inculcating components leading to a healthy and all round academic completion.
