Government polytechnic college for women, Madurai was established in the year 1963 at the Tamilnadu polytechnic college campus. Then started to function in a new campus from January 1972 with growing students strength , new courses and buildings. Institute provide Engineering and non-Engineering educational and training services at the Diploma level to women students who have passed 10th std +2, and ITI (10thd std + 2 years) selected according to the state prescribed norms using the Tamilnadu Government specified curriculum and evaluation system., The polytechnic is to establish links with local industries and the community and to respond to their needs by offering appropriate consultancy and other services., Vision & Mission, The Government polytechnic college for women, Madurai is a post-secondary Technical education and training institute offering competency based Diploma courses and non formal continuing education skills training programs to meet the requirements of industries and business organization.
