In keeping pace with the sweeping technological advancements, the necessity to provide technical education to the youth of this region, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kottar in Kanyakumari district established this polytechnic college in August 1984., This polytechnic college was granted recognition by the Government of Tamil nadu as a co-educational institution with a total intake of 180 seats vide G.O.763 EST/84 dt.13.6.1984, offering three branches of engineering such as Civil, Mechanical and Electronics & Communication. The three storeyed main black was officially declared open on 24.08.1987 by the founder patron of the college and Bishop of Kottar, the Most Rev.Dr.M.Arokiasamy.D.D, Additional branches of Engineering, namely, Computer Engineering and Information Technology were introduced, respectively in 1987 and 2001.Subsequently, a branch in Electrical & Electronics Engineering was introduced in the year 2004. Increasing the intake of Mechanical Engineering to 120, the annual intake of the polytechnic college was raised to 390 in the year 2005-06., The men’s hostal was formally blessed by the then patron of the college and bishop of kottar the Most Rev.Dr.Leon.A.Tharmaraj on 03.06.1991., Now, as the diocese of Kottar is bifurcated, on 22-12-2014, this esteemed institution belongs to the new diocese of Kuzhithurai. Having Most.Rev.Dr. V. Jeromedhas as its patron, the college is progressing towards fullness of life., True to the motto ‘Towards Fullness of Life’ engraved in the emblem of this polytechnic college, every effort has been sincerely taken by the management to make this polytechnic college full fledged with all the infrastructural facilities as per the stipulation of the Government of Tamil nadu and the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi., Vision, To facilitate the well-being of poverty-striken community at large., Mission, To make the student full pledged with engineering knowledge and skill.
