About Vidyasagar College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore
The Managing Trustee of Vidyasagar Educational Trust , Shri.V.Vidyasagar is an octogenarian personality of udumalpet. He is a philanthropist. He was the chairman of Udumalpet municipality from 1955 to 1962. The drinking water supply scheme was conceived and implemented during this period with the blessing of the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Thiru Kamaraj. Thiru V.Vidyasagar was instrumental in the construction of udumalpet weekly market and the central bus stand . He created the Vidyasagar Educational Trust in 1990 and Vidyasagar college of Arts and Science was built by the trust in 1991. At present he is the managing trustee. Shri V. Vidyasagar has rich experience in the field of higher education.
He is a trustee of PSG Institutions of Coimbatore ( 16 Educational institutions ) . He has served as the chairman of the selection committee of Government Arts College Coimbatore during 1961- 62 & 1962-63 . He has been the managing trustee and secretary of Vidyasagar college of Arts and Science , Udumalpet. He is also a leading industrialist who has been successfully promoting and managing textile mills in Udumalpet and Vedasunthur in Dindigul district.He had donated Rs 1 lakh for the construction of Government Arts College, Udumalpet and was generous enough to construct a block cost of Rs. 1.5 lakh in the memory of Smt.Annapoorani for the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Udumalpet, where only poor and lower middle class girl children study.
