CSI Bishop Appasamy College is administrated by the Church of South India. A large number of primary, secondary and higher secondary schools are run by the CSI today. One of the largest dioceses of the CSI is the Coimbatore diocese. The CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore stands as a witness in equipping the future generations of our country, the young boys and girls by its noble service in imparting value based holistic education to the mind, spirit and soul. Since our college is keen on producing well trained students with the help of the eminent, committed and dedicated faculty members, I am sure that our students will be instruments in bringing about a change in the society. Let love and mutual understanding bind us together for bright and prosperous future. CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science - a co-educational college affliated to Bharathiyar University. The college offers 7 undergraduate degrees : B.Sc - Catering and Hotel Management, Computer Science, Costume Design and Fashion, Visual Communication, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Management, B.A - Social Work. Each course has Core Subjects, Allied Subjects and Application Oriented Subjects. The students are to undergo industrial training, internships and do projects in Video Production, Ruarl Camp and Mini Group Projects as required by the respective course. The college has a full fledged computer laboratory and a well equipped laboratory for Visual Communication.The Bishop Appasamy College was established on 11th September 1995 with an enrolment of only 66 students in four undergraduate courses. Through the continuous and committed efforts of many, the college has grown in various measures including student strength, number of courses and more academic facilities.The contributions of the church of south India for the development of community cannot be described in words. For decades it has realized the role of education in the emancipation of the human race from the bondage of ignorance, superstition, slavery and servitude and worked for it. In 1995, the Coimbatore diocese started its first arts and science college naming it after the first Bishop of the Coimbatore diocese Rt.Rev.A.J.Appasamy. Rt.Rev.A.J.Appasamy was a great Christian scholar, whose vision was "Service for the fulfillment of the mission of Jesus Christ". The mission of Jesus Christ in his own words is “To serve and not to be served". With this as the underlying spirit and motive the CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science has been functioning. A renowned scholar, Rt.Rev.A.J.Appasamy was not only a voracious reader but also the author of many books as well. The book he wrote on Sadhu Sunder Singh after he met him in Oxford remains a classic till date. A true gentleman and always remembered for his simplicity, he was instrumental for a great spiritual revival in the All kinds of teaching - formal or informal assume that transfer of knowledge is possible. This knowledge when transferred is often replicated or applied practically. More important than replicative and applicative knowledge is the transformative knowledge, which enables learning skills to be transferred into learning situations. It is the ability that enables one to pursue new fields and domains of knowledge successfully. We call this knowledge transformative because it transforms the learner into a competent pursuer of independent learning, which forms the most valued aspect of learning.
