Department of International Relations

International Relations (IR) as a discipline is poised at an exciting global conjuncture for at least two principal reasons. Firstly, an interest in big questions is evident in terms of a renewed attention to systemic power transitions. Quite evidently, hitherto neglected parts of the world in terms of scholarship today merit far greater attention. Asia more generically and South Asia more specifically also qualify for this consideration given their sheer scale in terms of global demographics and the corresponding importance of livelihoods of people from the region to global well-being.

Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 2012, with a vision of being a research-oriented Department that would cater the need of application oriented research in Mathematics. Keeping in view the applicability of mathematics across almost all disciplines, the department started its first course as MSc in Applied Mathematics. The up-to-date curriculum of this course has been so designed that after completion of the course, the students would be equally equipped either to join variety of industries or to go to academics.

Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology strongly believes in the need to reformulate this situation by effectively centering South Asia without naively shunning thought from these established centers of knowledge be they in Europe or North America. We believe in an active and robust engagement with these issues within South Asia. In this context, through the work of its faculty and the research of graduate students, the Department creates a forum for the newer forms of knowledge that comprehends and represents the South Asian context with a more authoritative and nuanced voice.

Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science is one of the first two Departments established by the University in the year 2010. The Department initiated its teaching activities through a post-graduate program in Computer Applications in 2010 with a total intake of 30 students. The program was transformed to a more focused, rigorous and intensive program in Computer Science in 2011, as the faculty strength of the Department increased.
