The Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University (Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya) is a public university located in Puri, Odisha. It was established to promote Sanskrit Language and is named after the famous Jagannath temple in Puri. The university was established in 1981. With the creation of Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya , 142 Sanskrit institutions of the state including 5 Mahavidyalaya and 137 Vidyalayas , Pathasalas and Tools offering Prathama , Madhyama , Upashastri , Shastri and Acharya courses came under this Vishvavidyalaya .
The university conducts Post-Graduate courses in six departments namely Sahitya , Vyakarana , Dharmashastra , Sarvdarshan , Nyaya and Advaita Vedanta.
