About National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
NIOS or the National Institute of Open Schooling is an Open School Board. The foundation stone of NIOS was laid by CBSE i.e. Central Board of Secondary Education in the year 1979. Since then, the NIOS Board has been working to provide quality and relevant education at the school level, up to the pre-degree level. The Board’s vision is to universalize School Education with greater equity and justice. The NIOS Board provides various opportunities and course programmes to the students through open and distance learning modes. The National Institute of Open Schooling works with the help of a network of five departments, regional centres and the various accredited study centres of India as well as abroad.
