कहानी का सारांश
एक चूहा था। उसके सात पूँछे थीं। सब उसे सात पूँछोंवाला चूहा कहकर चिढ़ाते थे। तंग आकर चूहे ने नाई से अपनी एक पूँछ कटवा ली। अब उसके पास केवल छह पूँछे बची। अगले दिन चूहा जैसे ही बाहर निकला तो फिर उसे सब मिलकर चिढ़ाने लगे-छह पूंछ का चूहा, छह पूंछ का चूहा।
तंग आकर चूहा पुनः नाई के पास पहुँचा और उसने एक-एक करके अपनी सारी पूँछे कटवा दीं। अब चूहे की एक भी पूँछ नहीं बची। लेकिन फिर भी सब चूहे को चिढ़ाते-बिना पूँछ का चूहा, बिना पूँछ का चूहा।

चूहे ने बेकार ही सातों पूँछे कटवा लीं। सोचो तो, सात पूँछों से वह कितना सारा काम कर लेता। बताओ ये क्या-क्या कर पाते अगर –
प्रश्न 1.
हाथी के पास चार सँड़ होती तो…
उत्तर :
अगर हाथी के पास चार सँड होती तो वह एक साथ कई काम करता। अपनी एक सूँड़ की सहायता से वह अपनी लिए भोजन प्राप्त करता दूसरी सूँड़ की सहायता से वह पानी पीता; तीसरी सँड़ की सहायता से वह स्नान करता तथा चौथी सूड की सहायता से वह अपने को परेशान करनेवाले छोटे-छोटे जानवरों को भगाता।
प्रश्न 2.
बंदर के तीन पूँछ होती तो…
उत्तर :
अगर बंदर के तीन पूँछ होती तो वह एक पूँछ की सहायता से टहनियों पर लटकता, दूसरी पूँछ की सहायता से अपने को तंग करनेवाले छोटे-छोटे जानवरों को दूर भगाता और तीसरी पूँछ की सहायता से अपने दोस्तों के संग खेलता।
प्रश्न 3.
ऊँट की गर्दन खूब-खूब लंबी होती तो…
उत्तर :
अगर ऊँट की गर्दन खूब-खूब लंबी होती तो वह काफी ऊँचे-ऊँचे वृक्षों के फल, पत्तियाँ आदि तोड़ लेता तथा दूर से ही खतरों को देखकर अपने दोस्तों को सावधान कर देता।
प्रश्न 4.
दूसरों की बातों में न आकर चूहा अपने दिमाग से काम लेता तो…
उत्तर :
वह कभी अपनी पूँछों को न कटवाता।
बिना पूँछ के, अब क्या होगा?

रंग-बिरंगे कागज़ के टुकड़े करके चूहे के चित्र में चिपकाओ।
उत्तर :

प्रश्न 6.
चूहा बिना पूँछ के क्या नहीं कर पाएगा?
उत्तर :
चूहा बिना पूँछ के रह तो जाएगा, किंतु उसे पूँछ के बिना काफ़ी दिक्कतों का सामना करना पड़ेगा। किसी भी दीवार, रस्सी, टहनी आदि पर चढ़ते समय वह अपनी पूँछ से शरीर का संतुलन बनाता है। पूँछ के बिना वह किसी भी चीज़ पर नहीं चढ़ पाएगा और गिर जाएगा।
