The Himachal Pradesh NMMS, part of the NMMSS (National Means Merit Scholarship Scheme), is the state-level National Means Merit Scholarship (NMMS) exam of Himachal Pradesh. Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) in Himachal Pradesh, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Academic Requirements
- Current Enrollment: Students must be studying in Class 8 in a Government, Government-aided, or local body school.
- Previous Academic Performance:
- A minimum of 55% marks in Class 7 is required to appear for the NMMS examination.
- For students belonging to SC/ST categories, a relaxation of 5% is allowed, making the minimum requirement 50% marks.
- Class 8 Performance: To qualify for the scholarship after the examination, students must secure at least 55% marks in Class 8 (50% for SC/ST students).
Income Criteria
- Parental Income: The annual income of the student’s family from all sources must not exceed ₹3,50,000.
Additional Conditions
- School Type: Students from Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools, and private schools are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Continuation of Scholarship:
- To continue receiving the scholarship from Class 9 to Class 12, students must achieve a minimum of 60% marks in Class 10 (relaxable to 55% for SC/ST students) and must be promoted in the first attempt from Class 9 to Class 10 and from Class 11 to Class 12.
Examination Details
- Examination Structure: The NMMS exam consists of two tests:
- Mental Ability Test (MAT): 90 questions, 90 marks, 90 minutes duration.
- Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT): 90 questions, 90 marks, 90 minutes duration.
Students must achieve at least 40% marks in aggregate across both tests (32% for SC/ST candidates) to qualify for the scholarship
