How Marks are Calculated for Goa Board Class 12 Theory examination?
For class XII theory marks, the performance of students in UT / Mid-Term / Preliminary theory exam. Moreover, the total marks as awarded by the school should be in consonance with the past performance of the school for the class XII board examination. The computation of theory marks is done as follows –
- The schools will calculate total marks in theory for each student by adding the marks for class X, XI, and XII, as per the weightage specified. Since class X marks are already standardized, no scaling is to be done in this case. However, for class XI and XII, moderation shall be carried out by the school, scaling up or down of class XI and class XII has to be done in a fair and transparent manner.
- The Historical performance of Higher secondary schools in terms of best overall performance in the past three years will be taken into consideration. For example – if in a higher secondary school, the overall average marks of candidate in the year 2017-18 is 70%, in the year 2018-19 is 80%, whereas, for the year 2019-20 is 84%. Hence, in such a case, the school can use the subject-wise average for the year 2019-19 as the best reference year.
- In case, the schools have a date for two years, then the best performance out of two years will be taken. However, in case of data is available for only one year, then the same will be taken.
- In an exemption case, if in schools where the candidates are appearing in class XII board exams for the first time and hence have no historical data is available, then in such a case, the board will provide the details for the state-level average of the last two years performance in the board exams.
- The subject-wise average marks as assessed by the schools for the year 2021 should be within the range of + / – 4 marks as obtained by the school in the reference year.
Formation of Result Committee
To ensure successful implementation of the assessment policy, a result committee consisting of minimum four members will be created. It comprises of the following members –
- Principal of the school – Acts as a chairperson of the Committee.
- Two members of the committee should be the teaching class XII.
