MGSM Janta College Kartarpur came into existence in 1972 through the benign vision & guidance of late Master Gurbanta Singh Ji whose whole life is a saga of perpetual fight for the rights of marginalized people. Through his acute visionary insight, he laid the foundation of this academic institution with a view to catering the need of the rural population of this region so that in times to come the students could relish the fruits of education and the consequent benefits in the fast changing times. After the demise of this illustrious founder president his son Ch. Jagjit Singh has borne the responsibility of nurturing this institution with his exceptional diligence and dedication. His untiring efforts have resulted in the overall development of this institute which has acquired envious heights in different spheres. The introduction of Commerce, Computer Application, Computer Science at Post Graduate level, and other Post-Graduate streams have added academic excellence to this institution and it is making rapid strides in various academic fields. The college has excelled in sports, extra-curricular activities and has won laurels at University competitions. In academic field also the students have achieved distinction at University exams. The college has a spacious complex with eye-catching ambience. It can take legitimate pride in having a well-stocked library and computer lab with latest facility. On the sports arena, an ultra modern gymnasium has been built for the benefit of students. Keeping in view the emerging and challenging Trends in Information Technology & the Digital Divide between the rural background students and those of urban students and to deplete this Digital Divide the college is to make a humble beginning with introduction of Information Technology and Computer Application at the Graduate and post graguate level. Though this formidable task needs huge financial backing the college is doing its utmost to facilitate the career opportunities for our students in the times to come.
