As the world awakens to the benefits of staying healthy,enhancing immunity and using healing modalities which reconnect us with nature(a concept that has its roots in ayurveda),a more holistic approach in healthcare is the need of the hour.Run by the Shri Dhanwantry Educational Society,Chandigarh,Our college is one of the first Ayurvedic Colleges Which has initiated the process according to the directions of the Central Govt. and U.T. to get Accreditation from National Assessment & Accreditation Council(NAAC) by completing all the formalities.

S.D.E.S was founded in 1975 by a group of philanthropists for the promotion of Ayurveda in Chandigarh. The Institution covers 10,000 square yards land area with a huge infrastructure for College and Hospital. It has set up super-speciality services of Ayurveda with modern diagnostic facilities, with an approximate capital of Rs. 15 Crores. It is a centre of excellence & state of the art in Ayurvedic medical study and treatment with excellent professional expertise.Ayurveda or ‘the science of Life’ which has been practiced in India for more than 5000 years is a philosophy dealing with the preservation and maintenance of health. It considers the universe (macrocosm) to be made of 5 basic elements and the individual (microcosm) as a part of it. It is the fine balancing between the elements of the macrocosm and the microcosm that forms the foundation of human health. The Ayurvedic constitution analysis (prakriti parikshan) helps identify the specific ‘prakriti’ type in order to understand the strengths and susceptibilities of each individual. All healing modalities in Ayurveda are targeted towards removing the root cause of the disease rather than just giving symptomatic relief. Powders, tablets, decoctions, medicated oils etc. prepared from natural herbs, plants and minerals are mainly used in the treatment. Equal importance is given to proper diet and lifestyle. Proper selection of diet is necessary to prevent doshic imbalance and promote health and healing. Panchakarma has a special place in Ayurveda. These five therapies not only help remove deep rooted stress and toxins from the body but also form an important tool in maintaining health. Yoga and Ayurveda both provide systematic and scientific guidance for achieving a state of positive health through practices balancing the gross and subtle levels of existence of an individual.
