About PSSOU Bilaspur
Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University (PSSOU), Chhattisgarh is a State open university offering distance education. PSSOU was established on 20 January 2005 and was named after Sundarlal Sharma (1881 – 1940), a freedom and social justice fighter of the Chhattisgarh region. The university is administrated by an Executive Council, Academic Council, Planning Board, Departments, Board of Studies and the Finance Committee.
The Governor of the state accorded his assent to it on 20th January 2005 and the act was published in the Chhatisgarh Gazette (extraordinary) no. 20 Raipur, Monday the 24th January 2005. Dr. T.D. Sharma joined this university as the first Vice-Chancellor on 2nd March 2005 while Dr. Sharad Kumar Vajpai takes office as Registrar on the 15th March 2005. The academy of PSSOU aims at educating more and more people of rural socially economically backwards and to those who have a craving for education but can’t manage to go far in distant big cities.
