Course Details:

The Master of Science in Food Nutrition (M.Sc.Food Nutrition), is a two years postgraduate Nutrition and Dietetics degree course in India. The study covers all the aspects of Food and Nutrition such as Quality Management, Production Development, and Applied Nutritions.

The aim of the course is to focus on the interface human nutrition, food science and food industry, which includes the natural significance of processed food in the diet, the effect of nutrition labeling and nutrition calling, functional food and catering technology and nutritional quality.

The Food Science study develops the in-depth knowledge and understanding of Food Science / Food Processing, and composition in relation to nutritional quality, with good analytical skills and problem-solving ability to interpret data critically.

The course is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of Food Nutrition.The course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and information and techniques about the Nutrition and Dietetics, The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and Principles Techniques in an academic discipline such as Geriatric Nutrition & Assessment of Nutrition Status, Food Science, Advances in Food Microbiology, Advanced Nutrition, Research Methodology & Statistics, Nutritional Biochemistry, Community Nutrition and Nutritional Deficiency, Clinical & Therapeutic Nutrition, Institutional Food Administration, Food Processing & Technology, Nutrition for Health & Fitness.

Eligibility

The candidate has to complete Bachelor's Degree like C in Clinical Nutrition & Dietetic (B.Sc.Clinical Nutrition & Dietetic), Bachelor of Science (Honours), or any other Bachelor’s Degree with relevant subjects like Food & Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Food Technology, or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 60% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in M.Sc.Food Nutrition Studies program.

In India, it is mandatory to give entrance exams like Common Admission Test (CAT), some institute takes the personal interview and asked few questions on General Knowledge, Personality, Intelligence Assessment and English Language.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

The master’s study requires 2 years of the time period with an internship in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course. The course is not available for part-time and under distance education mode as it's a practical based study.

Further Studies

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do M.Phil (Food Nutrition), Ph.D (Doctorate in Food Nutrition), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
