The Master of Engineering in Transportation Engineering (ME.Transportation Engineering) is a two-year Engineering Degree course in India. The degree course is an application of scientific principles of the safe and efficient movement of people and Goods / Transport.
The aim of maste's engineering study program is to prepare candidates which are able to apply mathematical and scientific principles to the design development and operational evaluation of total system for the physical movement of people, material and information including general network design and planning, facilities planning, site evaluation, transportation management system, project analysis and cost analysis.
The candidates are able to prepare preliminary and final plan for highway, bridges, drainage structures, municipal utilities, roadways lighting traffic control devices, intelligent transportation and work schedules with contractors and governmental agencies.
The study provides in-depth knowledge and principles of transportation planning and comprehensive traffic engineering with technical aspects and the influence of environmental legislation and political factors.
The course is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of Transportation Engineering.The course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge and information about the Transportation, The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and Principles Techniques in an academic discipline such as Transportation System Planning, Pavement Material and Construction, Urban and Regional Development, Pavement Analysis, Design and Evaluation, Quantitative Techniques for Transportation Engineering, Transport Economics, Traffic Flow Theory, Project Management, Urban Transportation, Infrastructure (Planning & Development), Airport System (Planning & Development), Rail Transportation System (Planning & Development), Waterways Transportation System (Planning & Development).
The candidate has to complete Bachelor’s Degree like Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or any other Bachelor’s Degree with relevant subjects, or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 60% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s of Engineering in Transportation Engineering Studies program.
In India, it is mandatory to give entrance exams like Common Admission Test (CAT), some institute take the personal interview and asked few questions on General Knowledge, Personality, Intelligence Assessment and English Language.
The master’s study requires 2 years of the time period with an internship in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course. The course is not available for part-time and under distance education mode as it's a practical based study.
After the successful completion of the Master’s study program, one can have excellent career opportunities in the Public and Private Sectors, such as Civil Department, Electrical & Transportation engineering Consultancies, and Construction Companies, educational Institutes, Colleges, & Universities.
The Master degree holder recognized as Civil Engineer / Engineer and able to work as Chief Engineering Executive, Senior Engineer (Planning & Development), Traffic & Transportation Expert, Professor, Lecturer, etc.
