Master of Engineering in Food Technology is a two years postgraduate Food Technology degree level course of study in India. This course only deals with the process of food technology which reduced the gap between harvested food and available food by changing the mode of finished food product, which includes the process of food processing, packing, and storage of food.
The study emphasized on the healthy food diets, calories, nutritional status contained in the processed food. The course is designed to prepare candidates with the adequate knowledge and skills required for planning and managing a production process farm raw material to the finished product taking food safety and quality into account.
The aim of the program is to prepare candidates who want to learn more about food and wants to work with innovative future of food items for instance as a part of the solution to major health issues like malnutrition and obesity.
The course of study is suitable for those candidates wants to increase their knowledge for accelerating their career by exploring and acquire a critical understanding of the Food Technology and Engineering. The course of study is designed to provide in-depth knowledge, information, techniques and about the activities associated with Food Technology, in a comprehensive manner. The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Optimisation Techniques in Food Technology, Advanced Food Chemistry, International Food Legislation & Standards, Food Quality Control, Meat & Marine Technology, Modern Fruits & Vegetables Processing Techniques, Advanced Food Packaging, Advanced Beverage Technology, Processing of Milk & Milk Products, Food Microbiology, Food Plant Based, Food Process Modeling, Food Process Management & Control.
The candidate has to complete Bachelor Degree such as Bachelor of Engineering in Food Technology, Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 60% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in Master’s degree study program.
This course requires study requires 2 years of time period in India, It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning, study option to earn this degree.
After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do Ph.D. (Doctorate in Food Technology), and specialization or research oriented work in their respective field.
