School of Indian Legal Thought was established in 1989 with the major objectives of producing a vibrant cadre of lawyers, equipped with professional competence and good law teachers and legal researchers, providing specialized courses in emerging and important areas of law for post graduate studies and research and providing a special focus on the contribution of Indian thought in the field of law and jurisprudence as part of the general stream of legal education.

The school campus is located at Suryakalady Hills, Nattasserry which is 5km away from Kottayam. In order to reach the school take a deviation from Chavittuvari Junction (1½ kms from M.C. Road). The nearest airport is at Kochi (Nedumbassery) which is about 80 km away.
