Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education, was established in the year 1960. The College was then known as “Training Institute for Physical Education” and was running C.P.Ed. D.P.Ed. and then H.D.Ed. course. These Courses were run by the Government of Maharashtra. In the year 1983, as a policy matter of the State government, our Institution become affiliated to Nagpur University. Since then, we are running B.P.Ed.(One Year), B.P.E.(3 Years) , M.P.Ed.(2Years) Courses. This Institution was established by the Citizens Education Society which was established by Late Adv. Shri Ishwarbabuji Deshmukh with some mission and vision. He himself was a Sportsman in his days and also freedom fighter. His motto was to serve the nation through medium of education. The institution is having ten acres of land with excellent infra-structure in the heart of the city. The infra-structure facility are sufficient like class rooms, administrative blocks, library, laboratories and other common facilities.
In the sports arena, there is a 400 mtr. Track, other play fields such as Foot Ball, Volley Ball, Hand Ball, Basket Ball etc.

Institution also have Indoor Gymnasium hall for Gymnastic, Badminton, Table Tennis, Judo, Wrestling and Boxing. The institution is equipped with a modern library having more than books and professional periodicals and journals including other very rare reference books. The computerization of our Library is partially completed and it is moving ahead. Internet facility is also available for research scholars.
For research scholars institution is having sufficient material for reference, national and international journals and periodicals of Physical education and sports. The Institution has established Sports laboratories like Anotomy Physiology, Sports Psychology, Measurement - Evaluation and Educational Technology on his own for the benefit of the students and sportsmen. Institution has extended this facility even for the outsiders.

Our institution is recognized by Govt. of Maharashtra, permanent affiliated to R.T.M. Nagpur University Nagpur, recognized by the N.C.T.E. accredited B+ by NAAC. and included under section 2 (f) and 12 (B) UGC Act 1956.
