The 77 years old institution that has been the part of the freedom struggle and contributed towards the nationalist movement. It is a force to reckon with. It has participated in the monumental happenings like the non co-operation movement, the Quit India Movement, and Satyagraha. As a premier educational Institution it has produced personalities and celebrities that are doing it proud and lending it a golden name. The university has immense technical ability and vast diversified field in which students enroll and attend necessary degrees. The glorious tradition of excellency in all the fields has given it a reputation that has never been tarnished. Nagpur University closely related to Sevagram from where the Quit India movement took its shape by the hands of Mahatma Gandhi the great son of Mother India., The Institute :, The Central India Institute of Mass Comunication (C.I.I.M.C.) run by the Institute of Educational Research and Development Affairs (I.E.R.D.A.) is registered under the following acts (1) The Societies Registration Act 1860 & (2) The Maharashtra Trusts Act. The registration No. of the Society is Maha402/86/Nagpur, The Institute was born as a vision to provide better education in the field of Mass Communication and its realization came in the year 1997 after getting the permission from the Ministry of Higher & Technical Education, Govt of Maharashtra., The Institute with previously only a select number of students and amenities is now fully equipped with an excellent library, audio-visual aids, computer, internet and a host of latest facilities., The Director of the Institute is Mr. Sunil Kumar Mishra (M.M.C.J.) who has been actively involved in University's affairs. He is a truly versatile personality - a well known media consultant and a freelance journalist, Mr. Mishra has done a lot of research work in this field. He is also the Director of the Institute of Foreign Language Studies, Nagpur., Educational Centre :, The Institute is situated in the heart of the city V.I.P. Road Dharampeth. Nagpur is the geographic centre of the country and equidistant from all the major metropolitans. It has an excellent urban infrastructure. Many establishments of national and state importance are situated in around Nagpur. Seeing the city's strategic location and other perspectives, premier institutions like NEERI, AGMARK, WCL, MECL, RBI, National Academy of Direct Taxes, MOIL, etc. have been established here. Asia's largest industrial estate Butibori & MIDC also is a host to major corporate houses. The Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (A.I.R.) service stations keep track of the latest developments in their fields thus providing us with excellent communication. The international cargo hub at Sonegaon airport is one of its kinds in the country. The place has developed in to an educational centre with 2 prominent Medical colleges, and engineering colleges viz VRCE & LIT and other private colleges. The Ordinance factory and the strategic defense establishments also add up to the glory of Nagpur city., Nagpur is very near to Mumbai and Hyderabad who are rich in Film/TV/Print Media Production facilities. Leading Hindi, English, and Marathi, dailies like "The Hindustan Times", "Lokmat", "Tarun Bharat", etc are widely printed and circulated here., The Infrastructure :, Our's is a multi-faculty college with a strength of 50 students in English, Hindi, & Marathi medium. A large number of students drawn at our Institute are intellectually bright. The students are encouraged to prepare research papers on various current media topics, which gives them practical exposure as beginners. Various seminars are organized to provide first hand meeting with the dignitaries and assimilate wider knowledge., C.I.I.M.C has a small studio where students gain practical knowledge of TV and film communication. Study tours are a part of the teaching module, which enhances the overall development of the students. C.I.I.M.C also offers media consultancy to individuals and corporate houses to gear them with the latest in Media related matters, enabling them to enhance their public relations and corporate image., From the coming academic session we shall start a special placement cell to find suitable placement openings for our students. We are already working on for a foreign collaboration & a mini studio for the in house electronics production., Ours will be the only Institute in Central India to provide Video Conferencing technology to our aspiring students, thereby widening their horizons.
