G.S. College of Commerce and Economics Nagpur
G.S.College of Commerce, Nagpur was started by Shiksha Mandal, Nagpur in 1940. It was at the initiative of Late Jamnalaji Balaji and Seth Govindram Seksaria of Bombay. Our college was the pioneering commerce college affiliated to Nagpur University and first of its kind in the central and southern India. All national leaders offered their blessings for its development. The entire atmosphere in the college was overcharged with the feeling of nationalism. It was closed by the British rulers as the Principal , Professors and students took active part in the freedom movement of 1942. This was the pioneering institution in imparting commerce education through English, Marathi and Hindi Medium as well as providing post-graduate education in commerce and management, Govindram Seksaria College of Commerce and Economics, Nagpurwas established in 1945 by Shiksha Mandal, Wardha to fulfill the requirement of Commerce education in the region during the pre-Independence period. It is the first Commerce College in the city of Nagpur and only the second in Nagpur University: the first being G. S. College of Commerce, Wardha. Having been set on course by such noted Gandhians and freedom fighters as Shri Jamnalal Bajaj and Shri Krishndas Jajoo, who founded Shiksha Mandal, the college continued to receive patronage by Seth Govindaram Seksaria, Shri Kamlnayanji Bajaj, Shri Ramkrishnaji Bajaj and host of other noble souls who shaped our existence from time to time.
