    The University College of law established in the year 1925, it was the 10th only law college established in INDIA. Nagpur was then the capital of Central Province and Berar, in 1961, through state reorganization, Maharashtra came into existence with Nagpur as its second capital. Nagpur is geographically called center of India with Zero Mile Stone.

    Sir Vivian Bose was the first Principal of the college, who became Judge of the Bombay High Court, at its bench at Nagpur.

    In 1940 college was shifted to the present sprawling multi acre premises in the prime locality of the city

    Since its inception college has seen many glorious days, it has to its credit alumni like Former Prime Minister of Inida, Shri Narsimha Rao, Former Justice of Supreme Court Shri Shirpurkar, Mrs. Ruma Paul, a plenty of High Court and District Court Judges and the politicians like, Shri Nitinji Gadkari and Shri Devendra Fadanvis.

    In order to achieve holistic development of students, college presently conducts various activities such as annual academic National Festival "Justa Causa" wherein National Moot Court competition, National Seminars, Client Counseling, case comment writing, legal quiz competitions are organised.

    To give maximum exposure of practical training and functional professional understanding, "the life of a lawyer" a regular program is conducted, wherein students can interact with invited lawyer/s.

    Every year a university level cricket tournament is organised, so also through N.S.S. and Legal literacy camps, students are sensitized towards the problem of society. Many field activities are regularly organised such as, Supreme Court visit and other institutional visits in a study tour.

    Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

    The academic session for the 1st , 3rd and 5th semester shall ordinarily commence from 1st July , while for 2nd 4th and 6th semester shall commence from 1st of January every year.

    The candidates admitted to the course shall be examined in the subject as mentioned in subsequent pages.

    The students of 4th ,5th and 6th semester shall be required to undergo practical training as indicated in subsequent pages.

    The scope of the topics in various papers will be as mentioned in the syllabus.

    Without prejudice to the other provision of ordinance no. 6 relating to examination in general , the provisions of Para. 5,8 and 10 of the said ordinance shall apply to every collegiate candidate

    The fees for the examination shall be as prescribed by the university from time to time.

    The medium of instruction and examination shall be in ENGLISH . question papers for the examination shall be set in English . However, the candidate shall have the option to write their answers either in English, Hindi or Marathi.

    Each paper / subject for the examination shall be of 100 marks. For the purposes of passing the subject/paper student shall secure 40 marks minimum. However, for passing entire semester 50% aggregate marks necessary.

    In order to get exemption in the subject the candidate should have secured at least 50% marks.

    There shall be no classification of successful examinees except in 6th semester.

    An examinee who secures 60% and above marks in all semester taken together shall be placed in first division and all other successful examinee shall be placed in the second division. An examinee who secures 75% or more marks shall be declared to have passed the examination with distinction.

    The provisions of Direction No.9 of 2002 relating to the award of grace marks for passing an examination, securing higher division/class and for securing distinction in subject(s) as updated from time to time shall apply to the examination under this direction.

    Notwithstanding any thing contrary to this direction, no person shall be admitted to an examination under this direction, if the candidate has already passed that examination of this University or an equivalent examination of any other University.

    An examinee successful at the LL.B. examination shall on payment of prescribed fee shall receive a degree signed by the Vice-Chancellor.

    This direction shall come into force from the academic session 2009-2010 and shall remain in force until the relevant ordinance comes into being in accordance with the provisions of the Maharashtra University Act,1994. The direction no 11 of 2003 hereby stands repealed.

    The students shall undergo 12 weeks internship for the 3 years law course and this internship is for the entire course of 3 years. The internship in any year cannot be more than 4 weeks.

    The students of all semesters shall be required to undergo court visits which are compulsory.
