Shri M. D. Shah Mahila College, established in 1968 by Jan Seva Samiti is affiliated to S.N.D.T., Women’s University, a prestigious Women’s University founded by Bharat Ratna, Maharishi Dhondu Keshav Karve.

At the college we believe that no woman should be left behind in taking the benefits of higher education. In order to prepare students for global competence, a wide range of options are available. The college offers Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce, Management Studies, Computer Applications, Mass media and Masters’ degree in Commerce, Economics and Hindi. In B.A., the programme options are available in four mediums, while in B.Com, it is available in two mediums. I am particularly proud of our mission to include the marginalized section of students into the ambit of higher education. We are very committed to provide learning opportunities to girls with low academic performance. The unswerving dedication of our management and staff has led to many innovative and add-on programmes being offered to the students free of charge. One of the very effective and exclusive programmes is “Astitva”- a project where academically and socially disadvantaged group of hundred students are provided intensive training on off-days regarding self esteem building, confidence development, communication skills and personality development. These students further reach out to the society by working in the nodal centers set up in the community with the help of NGO’s and locals. The percentage at entry point may not be that impressive but during the course of three years we are able to influence many lives. This year the university topper in the BCA stream belongs to our college. The merit list is occupied by our BMS students.

Shri. M. D. Shah Mahila College of Arts and Commerce is an evolving institution offering women's education to the largest number of girl students in the entire western suburbs of Mumbai. We are affiliated to SNDT Women's University and patronized by the Janseva Samiti. The College is conveniently located at Malad (West), on B.J. Patel Road which is at a walk-able distance from the closest station 'Malad' on the Western Railways.

We offer graduating facilities in Arts and commerce with various discipline components. Besides, we also run several professional courses like Bachelor of Management studies (BMS); Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) and Certificate Courses in Interior Designing, Fashion Designing, etc.

Established in 1968, the college today offers Post-graduation Degrees in Economics and Hindi as well as in M.Com. The Management is thus oriented towards making higher education accessible to the girl-child irrespective of any prevalent social or economic problems. We are pro-actively engaged in curtailing several limitations that a girl-child faces in contemporary society in her attempts to educate herself.
