About Dayanand College

Dayanand College, Ajmer was established in form of a ‘Pathshala (School)’ in 1888. With the efforts of Karmaveer Pt. Jiyalal and Prof. Dattatreya Vable. It became College in July 1942. After the closing down of D.A.V. College, Lahore, this college is the oldest Dayanand College of India run by Arya Samaj Shiksha Sabha. This College has the credit of imparting education in five different faculties – Arts, Science, Commerce, Agriculture and Physical Education in the entire region. Facilities for research in different subjects for Ph.D. level and able qualified Professors are available in this College. Dayanand College is perhaps, the only College in the country where there is an outstanding Research Institute like ‘Dayanand Vedic Shodha Peeth’. Other such Research Institutes are established in Universities only. This beside, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Study Centre has also been established in which facilities for study of 30 subjects and MBA, B.Ed. etc. are available. For the College students, specially for the students of the Physical Education, swimming pool, gymnasium complex, widely spread and well maintained play grounds for main out-door games and 400 meter Cinder Track are available. Such facilities are perhaps not there in any other College in the region. There are two hostels for students. Labs for the Agriculture students, fields and dairy farm have also been provided for this so that along with theoretical knowledge students can acquire practical knowledge of their subjects. Besides developing the intellectual capacity of 2300 students of the College, training is also imparted under National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) to 200 students and also in N.C.C. Army, Navy and Artillery to 500 cadets.
