Navodaya Institute of Technology (NIT) was established in 2008 by Navodaya Educational Trust (NET). NET is a premier education service provider in Karnataka. It promotes and provide primary and higher education in the country, having 12 institutions and over 5000 students, offering 20 academic programmes., Aims at developing Navodaya Institute of Technology (NIT) as the most respected and sought after technical institution of higher learning in Karnataka. The institute started with four B.E. courses approved by AICTE viz. Computer Science Engineering (CSE); Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE); Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) and Information & Science Engineering (ISE)., In the year 2011 new branches of Civil Engineering (CE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) were established. Subsequently in the year 2014, the intake of CE and ME was increased to 120 each. In the year 2014 two PG programmes viz. M. Tech, in Thermal Power Engineering and Digital Communication & Networking were also started. All these courses approved by AICTE, Govt. of India are affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University (VTU), Govt. of Karnataka.
