Department of Foreign Languages The School of Foreign Languages was started in Karnatak University in 1962. It was in the 1970s that the School of Foreign Languages got converted into Department of Foreign Languages. The Department was the first of its kind in South India and was one of the first three Departments in India as a whole (apart from Bombay and Poona Universities).
