It is a co-educational college located in the hub of the downtown city of Srinagar and surrounded on the western side by the shrine of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani RA popularly known as Shah-e-Hamadan., The foundation stone of the college was laid in the year 2013 by Mr Omar Abdullah then Chief Minister of J&K state. Govt Degree College Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan started academic operations in the year 2012. Temporarily college is functioning in two stories building in MPML Higher Secondary School, Baghi Dilawar Khan Srinagar. The construction of the college building is under process. The college has been allotted 8.6 Kanals of land adjacent to Gandhi Memorial Degree College, Srinagar., The college started its academic journey with 20 students enrolled in BG 1st year in Arts stream with a subject combination of General English, Urdu, Arabic Sociology, Education, Political Science and Economics.
