Eliezer Joldan Memorial College (EJMC), Leh
Degree College Leh was established in 1994 as Arts College in DIET building as a makeshift arrangement. The college shifted to new campus in 1998 and later in 2005 it was renamed as Eliezer Joldan Memorial College Leh, in honour of Mr. Eliezer Joldan, whose contribution in the field of education has been unparallel. The college has a two storey Administrative Block and Arts and Science Block with a recently completed Library and a Commerce Block the college has also Psychology Laboratory and Multi-Purpose Hall. The objective of establishing a college in this remote part of the state was to provide higher education to the students of the district at their doorsteps who otherwise had to pursue the same in Jammu or in Kashmir provinces. The government later introduced science stream in the college in 2005 and in the same year the college was also listed by UGC under 2f 12 B. Science and Commerce stream was introduced in the year 2005 and 2010 respectively. The college is also listed by UGC under 2f and 12 B. The Government also introduced Commerce Stream in the college in 2010.
