Located in Since its inception and humble beginning in 2005, Government Degree College, Beerwah has become a prominent place of higher learning in District Budgam. The College imparts education to the students coming from all the sections of Tehsil Beerwah. Though the College started functioning with a few students, however, with the strenuous efforts and steady commitment shown by the resourceful faculty and enthusiastic support offered by the society, the college has acquired flourishing academic and infrastructural heights. The college spreads on 58.07 kanals of land. In addition to a two storey main building, the college has a separate spacious three class room building. Located in the lap of nature, the college presents a beautiful view of the whole town of Beerwah. Being mesmerizing in natural beauty, the college is placed away from the hustle and bustle of the town offering a peaceful and serene surrounding to the students to explore and exploit their capabilities. The college offers programmes leading to bachelors of Arts, Science and Commerce covering almost all the subjects in these areas of study. At academic front, two more new attractive subjects Bio-Technology and Social Work have been added to the already existing variety of subject combinations. Besides academics, the college conducts co-curricular activities in the college campus to develop a culture of participation, competition and demonstration among the students. The college is committed to educate its students in all streams of Science, Social Science, Humanities and Commerce to emphasize reflection, discussion and intensive interactions between students and faculty and the co curricular activities exist primarily to serve all the educational purposes. The college is committed to make its student thoughtful and progressive to meet the challenges of both in their communities and as world citizens. More importantly the college aspires to make its students independent thinkers committed to serve, to make them physically active, mentally disciplined and motivated to continue acquiring knowledge and to make them educated to understand and appreciate ideas , societies, traditions, cultures and values that may be immediately less familiar to them., The College is affiliated to the University of Kashmir and has received permanent affiliation status with effect from 2010. The University Grants Commission, New Delhi vide its communication No. F.No.8-246/2007 CPP-I/C) dated 30th August, 2010 has included the College in its list of colleges under section 2 f and 12 B of the UGC Act, 1956.
