The Department is the fourth top Biotechnology schools of India as per survey made by BioSpectrum (2013). The Department of Biotechnology was established in 1997. It offers two formal programmes of study, M.Sc.
and Ph.D. The M.Sc. students in their two years programme are given a good exposure of practicals related to Molecular Biology, Plant Tissue culture, Animal Cell culture and Biochemistry.
