Located in V.P.&R.P.T.P. Science College is one of the oldest Science colleges in Gujarat.It is Managed by Charutar Vidya Mandal and established in 1947. It is affiliated to Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar. It was first an Arts and Science College, after 1959 it has been fully devoted to Science. It has won the award of The Best Science College of Gujarat on THREE Successive occasions. Eminent personalities like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Nobel Laureate Dr. C.V. Raman, Shri Prithviraj Kapoor had visited the college on various occasions., V.P.&R.P.T.P. Science College is spread over an area of 6412.45 square meter with spacious and well ventilated classrooms, fully Equipped Laboratories, Computer Center with internet facility, a separate Library Building which has a Reading Room with internet connectivity.The college also has a huge Central Hall with a capacity of 1500 students. The college also boasts of a beautiful garden in its campus. There is a separate Canteen in the college campus., The college is just a stone's throw away from Mota Bazar and is in the close vicinity of Post-Office, Banks, ATMs, Bus Stop, Shops, Restaurants, Hostels, Play Ground and University Office., Today there are 12 departments in the college with a staff strength of 56 teaching faculty members with almost half of them having a Ph.D. as their highest qualification., Named after Vithalbhai Patel, freedom fighter and the First Indian president of the Central Legislative Assembly under British rule, its foundation was laid by the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel., There is no doubt that strong villages make a strong nation. This conviction led two strong minded people Shri Bhaikaka and Shri Bhikhakaka to visualize an educational township in Charutar so that education could serve as an able instrument of rural change. This dream was blessed by none other than the two great sons of India Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel., What is today known as Vallabh Vidyanagar, was a wooded ravine where no one dared to live. Under a desolate mango tree, the two visionaries sketched out a blueprint of their vision., In 1945, Shri Bhaikaka and Shri Bhikhakaka registered a Public Charitable Trust : The Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) and in the glorious tradition of Nalanda and Takshashila, they laid the foundation of a model township (on borrowed land, thanks to the generosity of the neighboring villages) which was inaugurated by India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru., In 1947, an Arts and Science College was the first college to come up in the township. Teachers, their spouses , students, citizens, everybody voluntarily laboured to bring this college up. So in 1947 with 600 students, it was inaugurated by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel., Mission, We dedicate ourselves to the continuation of our founders’ vision of scholastically uplifting rural youth along with value education to prepare globally competitive citizens who contribute towards nation building., Vision, To educate, empower and prepare globally competitive human resource through knowledge, employability, entrepreneurship skills by creating an environment conducive to learning and research in sciences , and critical thinking there by leading to creation of a strong institution through close affinity with its alumni..
