The Dasaratha Deb Memorial College, Khowai started its journey on 24th November,1979 at Khowai Government Higher Secondary School with only 3 students. It was then affiliated to Calcutta University, West Bengal. The foundation stone of new building at its present location was laid by the then Educational Minister, Government of Tripura, Shri Dasaratha Deb.

The Bir Bikram Memorial College has started its journey on 19th August, 1969 as Bir Bikram Evening College, affiliated to Calcutta University, with more than 300 male students, in the premises of Maharaja Bir Bikram College,Agartala . The college basically catered to the needs of those students who were not in a position to prosecute their studies in the existing day colleges of the state due to myriad reasons. The teaching- learning hours of the college was 3 p.m.

The ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Tripura Centre was established by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi with its headquarter at Umroi Road, Umiam (Barapani), Shillong in 1975 at Lembucherra, 12km away from the capital town, Agartala. The Tripura Institute of Paramedical Sciences (TIPS) is the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) model paramedical institute of Tripura established in 2009. It isa joint venture between Govt. of Tripura and BIPS, Kalyani (W.B.).
