Manipal, popularly known as international university town of today, made its beginning with the establishment of medical college in private sector, viz., Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, that was established in the year 1953. It was the first self-financing medical college in the private sector in India, established in a barren hillock which has turned itself to be a green environmental city, with all modern amenities conducive to student learning.

Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra Medical College, is one of the premier institutes established by Bapuji Educational Association, Davangere Karnataka, India. Bapuji Educational Association was established by a group of eminent Philanthropic people of Davangere whose main concern was the upliftment of education in and around Davangere, which is predominantly a rural town.

JSS Medical College, is located in a sprawling 43 acre campus in Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, Mysore City, which is about 140 Km from Bangalore. The city is famed for its educational institutions, salubrious climate and beautiful gardens. The college which was started in 1984 has been designed and equipped for dispensation of quality medical education. The institution is backed by highly qualified and experienced staff, well equipped laboratories, library, and modern teaching aids.

The Government of Karnataka had decided to establish a Medical College at Bellary instead of Gulbarga. Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society under the leadership of Sri Mahadevappa Rampure started a Medical College in Private sector in 1963. Sri S. Nijalingappa, the then Chief Minister, Govt. of Karnataka, Sri. Veerendra Patil and Dr. D. C. Pavate helped in establishing the Medical college.

Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore was started in 1955, utilizing the clinical facilities of the Government Wenlock Hospital and Government Lady Goschen Hospital. In 1961, the pre-clinical section was started in Mangalore.

Sri Devaraj Urs Educational Trust started this pioneer Medical College in the year 1986, to fulfill its objectives and successfully transformed it into a Deemed to be University in the year 2007. The College is situated at Tamaka (abutting National Highway No.4 – between Bangalore and Chennai), 5 K.M from KOLAR, Karnataka. Kolar is well connected by road, rail and air due its proximity to Bangalore, which is 75 K.M away. The nearest Railway Junction, Bangarpet is 15 K.M away from Kolar.

NMAM Institute of Technology was established in 1986. The college is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.
