KLE Society's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College offers 5.5 years bachelor's degree courses in MBBS. Admission to this course is made through a merit list prepared on the basis of the score of the candidates in the Common Entrance Test (CET). In this course the reservation available to different reserved categories like SC, ST and OBC is as per the Government of India norms.

In the year 1966-67, College started with a Diploma course in pharmacy. The Declaration of the Trust was registered Vide no.35/1985-86 on 17th of October 1985, as Dr.M.V.Shetty Memorial Trust ® with Dr. M.Ramgopal Shetty, an eminent Vascular Surgeon, Mangalore, Sri. K. Muthaya Shetty, an Industrialist from Bangalore and Mrs.Leelavathi Shetty of Mangalore as the Trustees.
