The College is named after St. Peter, the apostle of peace and harmony. The College derives its inspiration from St. Peter’s & St. Paul’s Orthodox Syrian Church, Kolenchery. It was in the meeting held on 9th February 1964 at this church the idea of applying for a Junior College in Kolenchery was mooted. A committee consisting of Sri. C.P. Issac (Chairman), Sri. P.M. Paily Pillai (Secretary) and Sri. C. V. Jacob (Treasurer) was authorised to proceed with the dream project.

CMB College. Chandramukhi Bhola mahavidyalaya was set up in the year 1968 when the luminaries and the education-loving people of this locality took solemon pledge to establish a higher educational institution here at Ghoghardiha, a distant place surrounded by the river koshi-balan.

Hotilal Ramnath College, established in 1968 in a remote rural area of the District of Saran to fulfil the aspirations of the local population, mostly backward and deprived of opportunities, even after the four decades of national independence, for higher education. I believe it has fulfilled them to a great extent as it has progressed from being an affiliated unit in 1973 to become a constituent unit of Jai Prakash University, Chapra in 1960.
