National Facility for Marine Cyanobacteria was established at Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirapalli, India by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India in 1991 in view of the pioneering work on Marine Cyanobacteria initiated in 1987 at this university and the biotechnological potential of this group of organisms. The facility is well equipped and has a committed team of faculty and researchers. So far the progress of work in this facility has been commended by many.
