Pt. Lalit Mohan Sharma Government Post-Graduate College, Rishikesh, the first autonomous college of Uttarakhand, affiliated to the HNB Garhwal University, is one of the best academic institutions of the newly created Uttarakhand State. It was started by the state Government of undivided Uttar Pradesh in July 1973 and is spread over 49 acres.

College was founded in 1960 by Brahmaleen Mahant Shri Indiresh Charandasji Maharaj to enable the meritorious but poor students of Uttarakhand and its neighbouring states to realise their dreams of pursuing higher education at nominal cost.
