It was in 1946 that Prince Shivaji Education Society, Kolhapur started a high school named ‘Shri Mouni Vidya Mandir’ and with that established the educational institution, Shri Mouni Vidapeeth. Initially, the high school was located in the old building of a rural hospital in Gargoti. In the year 1948, Sarvapalli Dr. Radhakrishnan Education Commission proposed the concept of Rural University.

Santaji Mahavidyalaya, run by Shri Santaji Shikshan Vikas Sanstha, Nagpur was founded in June, 1971 and included in the list of University Grants Commission under 2F in Jan. 1977.

Established in 1990, it is now among the best private medical colleges in the country. It also has the intake capacity of 200 students annually which is the highest among the private medical colleges in Maharashtra. Since its inception, it has grown by leaps and bounds thereby earning fame and recognition. The Management has also invested heavily in the infrastructure and manpower so as to ensure that it conforms to all the guidelines of the regulatory bodies.

With the end of the East India Company’s regime in India and the failure of the first armed uprising in 1857, for India’s freedom, a new era dawned in our country. It was clear that the emancipation of our land and the transformation of the life of our people had to be brought about by peaceful and constitutional means. Indian renaissance had began and it heralded the role which education needed to play to achieve national aspirations.

The Nagpur University was established on 4th August, 1923 with six affiliated colleges and 927 students. During 1947, the number of students increased to about 9000 accompanied by the improvement and diversification of curricula and expansion in the range of subjects. The expansion of library and sports facilities occurred during these years for the intellectual and physical well being of the students.
