Mata Ganga Khalsa College for Girls, Manji Sahib, Kotan was established in 1997 to impart higher education to the girl students. This effort was dedicated to 3rd century celebration in the momory of late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tora, Ex-President of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Amritsar. The College was named in honour of Mata Ganga ji wife of 5th Guru Sri Guru Arjan Dev and daughter of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib ji.

This place has the benign blessings of Guru Hargobind Sahib, who spent significant moments of his life here. This place where now we have the magnificent edifice housing the colleges, was in about 1920 a waste stretch of land. But, with Almighty’s blessings in 1921, Nihang Shamsher Singh Ji, a great devotee of Guru Hargobind Sahib, had a visionary idea and established a ‘Gurmukhi Pathshala’, which he used to call a College.

The Thoubal College was established as a night college in the year 1963 to meet the academic needs of Thoubal area. It was a result of the determined effort of educated pioneers with inspiration and support from the local public.
