Established in the year 1986, It was initially housed in Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla located adjacent to the present campus area. The college is spread over an area of 37 kanals of land. It started its academic venture with a meager number of students in Arts & Commerce and was later on shifted to its own campus in the year 1995. Subsequently, Science stream and Computer Sciences were introduced in 2002 & 2005 respectively.

Govt. Degree College Doda is situated at Nagri area of District headquarter Doda at a height of 3500 feet from the sea level. Situated on the right side of the mighty river Chinab at a distance of 181 Km. from Jammu the winter capital of J&K state, at a distance of 222 Km from Srinagar the summer capital of J&K state and at a distance of 65 Km from Batote, a town on Jammu – Srinagar National Highway. Govt.Degree College, Samba affiliated to University of Jammu was established in the year 2005, by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.In the beginning only the subject in Arts stream were offered. It was in 2010 that in respond to students demand,Science and Commerce stream were also started in addition to Arts stream. At present there are 19 subjects taught in college. There are 37 permanent faculty members and 15 academic arrangement teachers in the college.
