Bijanbari Degree College BDC was founded on 4th November 1995 after a concerted effort by the people of Bijanbari town. The college is located midway from Bijanbari and Kaijalay and is set against the backdrop of lush and beautiful green hills with intermittent fields. The college caters to the higher education needs of students from various tea gardens like Chong Tong, Marybong and other rural villages that line across the valleys of the Darjeeling hills.

Sonada Degree College, established in 1985, is a general degree college in Sonada, Darjeeling. It offers undergraduate courses in arts. It is affiliated to the University of North Bengal.

Tirot Sing Memorial College was established on July31,1987 by the Leader and elders of HimaNongkhlaw and the people of Mairang to provide educaton to the needy and to cater to the needs of the people surrounding the area of Mairang and the West Khasi Hills District as a whole.It was named after a great freedom fighter of HimaNongkhlaw "U Tirot Singh" in order to preserve the heroic spirit of Tirot Singh as well as an inspiration to the youth and particularly the students community.

With a view to introduce higher education and to bolster the job opportunities among the downtrodden sections of the society in the remotest Dhalai District, Government Degree College, Kamalpur, was established in 1987, directly patronized by the Government of Tripura. Since then, this college has been able to establish its name as the premier centre of higher education in this district.

Ambedkar College, a General Degree College under the Department of Education (Higher), Government of Tripura, is situated at Laldahar, a village of scenic beauty in the bank of the river Manu in Fatikroy under Kumarghat subdivision of the Unakoti district of Tripura.
