Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women, a synonym for sterling service in Higher Education of women and a household name in Periyakulam Educational District was established on 5th July, 1971. It has been managed by the Sisters of St. Anne of Tiruchirapalli. Imparting Higher Education to the rural women, i.e. economically, educationally, socially and culturally backward. the college was crowned with “A GRADE” in the Re-Accreditation by the NAAC in 2008.

The Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College was established in the year 1956. The Hajiyar was extremely generous and truly religious and also had the conviction that true religion consists in service to humanity. Hence, he founded a Residential Madharasa in 1910. The Institution, Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College, has fulfilled the dreams of its founder by being accredited with the most coveted 'A' Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the year 2005.

The Hajee Karutha Rowther Howdia College was established in the year 1956 by the Late Hajee Mohamed Meera Rowther, popularly known as hajee Karutha Rowther. Born of noble parents in 1888, the Hajiyar grew up a great philanthropist. He was also a stanch nationalist and took part in the freedom movement of our country.

It was resolved in the General Body Meeting of the Bodinayakanur Pranthiya Thenninthia Ela Vivasayigal Sangam the then Cardamom Planters' Association, held on August 29, 1970 to start a College at Bodinayakanur. The Cardamom Planters' Association College Society was formed and registered in 1972. Sixty members were elected to the Society from among the General Body. Nine members were elected from among the said society members to form the Board of Directors.
