The Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior was established by the Ministry of Education & Culture, Government of India as Lakshmibai College of Physical Education (LCPE) in August 1957, the centenary year of the War of Independence and located at Gwalior, where Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, a valiant heroine of the war, had laid down her life during the First Freedom Struggle in 1857.

Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNIPE), Shaktinagar, Gwalior was founded by the government of India in 17th August 1957.It gained the status of a deemed university in the year of 1995 under UGC Act. This institute is the only Deemed University in the domain of physical education in India. It is located in the sprawling 150 acres of lush green campus at the heart of Gwalior.

The foundation of The Mumbai Veterinary College, Mumbai, in 1886 marked the establishment of the veterinary profession in this country. The Mumbai Veterinary College was inaugurated by Prof. J. H. Steel, B.Sc. F.R.C.V.S., a person with experience and dynamism as its first principal. Principal J. H. Steel can be considered as the father of modern Veterinary education in India. The College of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry is a reputed educational and research institute in India. Established on 16th Auguest, 1964 by the Govt.of Gujarat, the college became a part of Gujarat Agricultural university in the year 1974 and at present is constituent college of formed Anand Agricultural university. Bihar Veterinary College, Patna, the 5th oldest Veterinary College in undivided India was founded on 2nd April, 1927 by Sir Henry Wheeler, the then Governor of Bihar & Orissa. The buildings were completed, laboratories were equipped and teaching & professional staff joined the alma mater in 1930. However, the college started functioning w.e.f. 7th April, 1927.
