NMAT by GMAC 2026 Syllabus: Section-wise Topics
The NMAT syllabus is organised around three aptitude sections. GMAC may update the current-cycle blueprint, so use this topic map with the latest candidate guide and official sample questions rather than treating any coaching list as exhaustive.
Language Skills
- Reading comprehension: main idea, supporting detail, inference, tone and vocabulary in context.
- Vocabulary: synonyms, antonyms, usage, idioms and word relationships.
- Grammar and language usage: parts of speech, sentence structure, agreement, tenses, modifiers and error recognition.
- Verbal reasoning: para-jumbles, sentence completion, critical reading and relationships between statements.
Quantitative Skills
- Arithmetic: percentages, ratios, averages, profit and loss, interest, mixtures, time and work, and time, speed and distance.
- Number properties, divisibility, integers, fractions, indices and basic progressions.
- Algebra: equations, inequalities, functions and word problems.
- Geometry and mensuration: lines, angles, triangles, circles, polygons, area and volume.
- Data interpretation: tables, charts, graphs, caselets, data sufficiency and quantitative comparison.
Logical Reasoning
- Analytical reasoning: arrangements, ordering, grouping, sequences and constraints.
- Critical reasoning: assumptions, conclusions, strengthen/weaken, cause and effect, and argument evaluation.
- Classification, series, coding/decoding, deductions and pattern-based problems.
- Verbal and non-verbal logic questions as represented in official practice materials.
Preparation approach
- Download or review the current GMAC exam structure and sample questions.
- Build accuracy topic by topic, then practise mixed timed sets.
- Use full-length mocks to practise switching between sections and managing the current section timers.
- Analyse errors and revisit concepts; keep a separate record of careless mistakes and time-consuming questions.
